Continue with daily devotional time and my prayer time.  Continuing to use the “Jesus Calling” devotional.   Would like to carve out time to do more “leisure reading” of recommended books on my list of books.  I continue to run consistently and just ran my best PR in the Bozeman Half Marathon on Sept. 9th.  It was absolutely amazing if I may say so.

 6. Any other matters of interest?

I am very excited about the “planting” of a new outdoor church/worship service, complete with timber wood cross at Moonlight Ski Basin!  As other parts of US are taking away Christian symbols, we are adding another here in Big Sky, Montana.  Thanks be to God!   I passed my written exams (4 of them) to acquire my Learner’s permit to train and  to take the School Bus Driver exam, WHICH is now scheduled for October 23rd in Bozeman!  I am the newest bus driver at our local Big Sky School District #72.

  7. How can we pray for you?

Pray for my unsaved friends and those with whom I am in contact on a weekly basis.  Pray for continued health of my parents in Lake Charles, LA.  They just became 75 (mom 9/21st) and 76 (dad 9/22nd) years old this month.  Pray for the stamina that I need to balance everything that’s on my plate for financial employment resources, ministry opportunities, evangelism, and the mentoring relationships that God has placed in my life.   Continued prayer for my financial resources to continue ministry as a MSC (self-funded) Missionary.

Summary of Ministry

1.    What accomplishments in your ministry can we celebrate this month?

JUNE 2012- One of the surprising aspects of the “Facebook social network” has been the ability to see and hear glimpses of what the Summer Missionaries are doing across the state.  That has been a “plus” as the missionaries post pictures, videos and comments about their ministry.  I attended a couple of “Big Sky Chamber” business gatherings to introduce Sojourner missionary (Travis Hays) to various businesses that might hire Innovator college students in the future.  Opportunity to teach two “Guard Start” Jr. Lifesaving classes at Camp Big Sky to 11-14yr olds. Participated in a Men’s backpacking spiritual retreat in Yellowstone.  Visited with Pastor Benny and Ed & Brenda Geiger in West Yellowstone.  Meet with and conducted June weddings.  Helped with resources for Church Planter Parish Hartley in pursuit of Skate Park ministry in Helena.

 2.  What are your ministry plans for next month?

For JULY, I will be following-up with Summer/Sojourner missionaries and supervisors to find out if there are any needs or concerns.  Will be participating with West Yellowstone Innovators in a backpacking event and sharing with them opportunities to serve in Montana.  Will be working on promotion and development of MTSBC requests for Summer Missions 2013 to submit to NAMB for Fall 2012 promotion.   Will be counseling w/couples and officiating five weddings in July.

  3.  What is working well?

The approval of my application to the State of Montana, Department of Revenue for non-profit, exempt status has been made official.  The resort ministry which I am conducting is now known as “Big Sky Resort Ministries, Inc.”  Yeah!  Being able to share my faith and my journey with God more often through my community connections!

  4. What is missing or needs improvement?

Nothing new this month.

5. What are your plans to take care of your Spiritual, Physical and Family needs next month?

Busy month, to say the least, but I am trying to use more of an electronic approach to stay consistent in my devotional time and my prayer time is the most consistent.  Still trying to find the time to do more “leisure reading” of recommended books on my list of books.

6. Any other matters of interest?

None at this time.

  7. How can we pray for you?

Pray for my unsaved friends and those with whom I am in contact on a weekly basis.  Pray for the health of my parents in Lake Charles, LA.   Pray for the Sojourner, Innovator and Summer missionaries that are serving in Montana this summer from June 4th – August 9th.  Pray for the stamina that I need to balance everything that’s on my plate for ministry resources, evangelism, coordinating of the Summer Missionaries and the mentoring relationships that God has placed in my life.   Continued prayer for my financial resources to continue ministry as a MSC (self-funded) Missionary.

Summary of Ministry

1.    Describe this month’s Sending Churches activities.

FEBRUARY 2012-  The beginning of a “new” era of ministry has me facing more responsibilities and opportunities than I’ve ever had in my entire life.  There are times when I look back on my Missoula/Western Montana experience and wish that I had that same schedule!  Not only am I pursuing Resort Ministry and Collegiate Ministry, but also raising my support to be able to survive financially!  I have also taken a seasonal paid job at Big Sky Fire Department to help cover some of my expenses.  Balancing everything on my plate has been exciting, but also a challenge! ‘Sending Churches’ action steps: Prayer, I have been praying for other MSC missionaries that I met during training in Denver.  I get some of the newsletters.  I have been very consistent in prayer this month.  Stories, the stories of reconnecting with my Big Sky community have been endless.  Initially, I came across many job offers that would have meant a change in careers.  All of these would not have allowed me time to serve as Chaplain.  I have already counseled and conducted marriage ceremonies and many others are scheduled as I am now an officiate on the Chambers website.  I am also conducting my first memorial service since returning on Feb. 26thExperiences, I was able to experience the MTSBC Collegiate “Winter Blast” retreat at Fairmont Hot Springs on Feb. 10-12.  It was an amazing event filled with lots of youthful energy and excitement for worship.  The networking with students, campus ministers and campus church planter pastors was invaluable.  I think I relate well with this ministry and look forward to more challenges towards promoting our Summer/Innovator Missionary pursuits.  All major Montana colleges were represented except for Missoula, which was surprising.  My guess for attendance was approx. 125 with the biggest group coming from Billings area.

2.    Describe your plans for next month’s Sending Churches activities.

For MARCH, Continue working towards the launching of the prayer & fund-raising for my missionary position as a MSC Missionary.  Secure Bozeman location for Summer/Innovator Missionary orientation (June 5-8th), Discuss logistics of orientation with Jessica Crusch, and secure speakers for orientation.  Attend M-Pact Montana and continue to educate pastors and other ministers as to collegiate Missions opportunities and awareness.

3.    List this month’s non-Sending Churches activities.

At this “new” stage of MSC Missionary endeavors, I will not consider that anything I do is a non-Sending Church activity as it’s all in relation to ushering God’s people into heaven.  I will say that I am diligently working with my local church as an Elder of Communication & website.  This has also added to my work level, but I am almost done working with a local web designer in the completion of Big Sky Christian Fellowship’s first official website!

4.    Are you facing any issues which you would like to discuss?

Time Management and finding time for myself.

5.          Share your Most Significant Accomplishment this month.  I would say my most significant accomplishment has been the resurgence of the outdoor worship services on the ski slopes at Big Sky Resort and now the neighboring resort of Moonlight Ski Basin would also like to build a logwood cross and put on their trail map as well.  We have a great start to the ‘Big Sky Chaplains Association’ with 6 Chaplains including myself.  I also had a chance to connect and network with our campus ministry college students at the Winter Blast.  They truly keep me young!

6.    Share your Personal / Ministry related concerns.

Pray for my unsaved friends and those with whom I network on a weekly basis.  Pray for SBC, NAMB, MTSBC.  Pray for my having to transition from Career Missionary to MSC (self-funded) Missionary.

7.    What are your plans to take care of your Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Professional and Family needs next month  I am continuing to actively mentor young adults that are locally in Big Sky and from a distance in Belgrade, Manhattan and Missoula.  God is good!  I am dependent on a regular exercise routine, not only for the physical benefits, but for my emotional well-being.  My Prayer life remains consistent, but I would like to start journaling again.  Also, I am now 6 months – Free of no TV reception and so far, so good!!

TRANSITIONS

IMG_2482

Welcome to the informational website of Big Sky Resort Ministries!  This is a Christian ministry located in Big Sky, Montana that was created by  God and Resort Chaplain/Missionary, Brad Lartigue.  Since 1990, Brad has been serving as a salaried Resort Missionary with the North American Mission Board and Montana SBC.  After 21 years of effective service, the NAMB and MTSBC have decided to take a “new direction” and focused efforts in the area of “Church planting” missionaries.  As a result, the position of Resort Missionary is no longer being funded by a salary, but God has continued to open the doors and efforts for evangelism efforts in outdoor recreation, servant evangelism and special events to continue in Montana!

In this transition time, I have been supported and approved as a Mission Service Corps (MSC) Missionary with NAMB and MTSBC and will continue to serve as an “Annie Armstrong” Missionary at our Mission Conferences.  As well, I will also recruit & coordinate collegiate ministries with our MTSBC churches & ministries in a non-salaried position, so, your support is very much appreciated through the MSC Donation site at the North American Mission Board.

Please prayerfully consider how you, your family, your church, organization, or ministry would partner with Resort Missionary, Brad Lartigue to continue his calling to serve as a missionary in Montana and Yellowstone National Park area.

Jesus Christ gave us the foundation, basis and model of Resort & Leisure Missions, to minister to the people where they are in our communities.  Going out and taking the Gospel of Love & Salvation to people, outside the walls of our churches, whether at the seaside, market places, theme parks, mountain resorts, national & city parks, etc. and going into our churches for nurturing and worshipping GOD.  We may put a label on this ministry, but bottom-line, it’s the Great Commission that Christ left for us to carry on from His own example.

In the context of Luke 2:52, we should also strive to grow in Wisdom: to be wise regarding the world that we live.  To read the “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth” (Bible) book, before we die.  To also be attuned to world/social issues around us.  To grow in Stature: by being physically fit in making wise choices of what we eat and how we discipline/exercise our body.  To grow in favor with God: by loving our creator and having a relationship with Him and sharing that love with others.  And to grow closer to Mankind by making a difference in your community through meeting spiritual, physical and emotional needs of friends and neighbors; and presenting Christianity in a loving way.

As one of the pieces of the “puzzle,” Big Sky Resort Ministries is seeking your support continue being an effective part of God’s Great Commission.  It’s going to take your Prayer support, Financial Support and willingness to possibly come a Serve alongside!  It takes prayer, people willing to step out, courage, thought, and enthusiasm, but we can go to the ends of the earth, as Jesus commanded us.  Let’s pray our  people and its churches will reach out intentionally and be an incarnation of Christ: “To Live like Missionaries” as God gives us the passion for the recreational activities; and servant evangelism that gets us out of our church pew and into Montana’s great big adventurous landscapes!

in God’s service,

BRAD LARTIGUE
